Q: What does the 'key' in Key Club stand for?

A: 'Key' stands for Kiwanis Educated Youth.

Q: How many hours do I need to complete in order to be recognized as an active member?

A: Active status members must complete 50 hours by the end of the year. That equals to about 5 hours per month.

Q: I heard that seniors can get medals through Key Club, is that true?

A: The Kiwanis Club of Brea recognizes Brea Key Clubbers who have demonstrated exemplary service.  Eligible recipients must have completed at least 175 hours by the end May.

Q:  Do I have to attend the afterschool meetings?

A: Attendance to the afterschool meetings is highly encouraged, however it is not mandatory. The meetings are another way for members to get involved with the club. When you attend, you will be able to: learn more about important events/issues such as district convention and the organizations our KC sponsors, eat yummy food, watch the monthly video, help out with the featured service project, and get to know your fellow KCers better.

Q: How do I complete my hour requirements?

A: Members should look at the latest agenda to see what projects or events they can sign up for to gain KC hours. Once a member knows that he or she can commit to that project or event, he/she must notify KC that they are attending. There are a couple ways of notification: signing up at the Tuesday meetings, notifying through the contact box on the agenda webpage, or contacting any officer on the phone, through email, etc.
